    Re: Dead and Gone?

I think what happens is that when a site like this launches, some early fans come on to the forums and form a group either explicitly or implicitly. Then, as time goes by, more and more people join the site, but the original group of forum members stays and feels threatened by all of the new people. They are under the impression that since they've been there longer, they deserve special privileges, special rules just for them, and that they're better than the new people.

Psychologically, I understand what's going on. They feel like since they've been around longer and "put more into the game" they deserve something special and that all these new people shouldnt' be here. Unfortunately, that's not how game sites work. We want as many people to come here and ask questions and get answers and buy the game, it's not a forum for a small group of people to chat about their own insular topics.

When it became apparent that I wasn't going to give the long time forum members special moderator powers (they wanted the ability to ban people with new reg dates and all kinds of stuff), they felt threatened by all of the new people and flipped out.

They had a list of demands like "new members aren't allowed to post until they reach a post count of 500" (think about that one), and that if they registered on some other 3rd-party off-site secret forum, that they should have special moderator powers here on the HaloWars.com forums. And that only they should have signatures (I had turned them off by this point due to abuse). Then a lot (but not all) flipped out and spammed and flamed themselves into a perma ban.

    Wow.

I knew about some of that, but the rest is just crazy.

this story deserves my opinion but i dont have the time at the moment. but i will say this.

the signatures were being hacked by new people and they were getting so biig they took up a whole page when they posted so i believe it was you i think it was paragon shut them off.

and we made that site so we could continue to argue about what we thought about you and robot (i dont have the link anymore i left them a long time ago) and so that we could have the authority we used to have on here before the game release. and theres a lot more but i have to go make lunch so i'll be right back

and to the comment above yeah it got that bad

Don't say they as though all of them agreed. There were some people said things as a joke like that, not one of them ever tried to get mod privileges and not one of them believed they were better... (Okay, maybe some) But they were annoyed because the new members came in such big waves, one after the other, that all the spam and stupid topics got to a lot of them, and it was the new members who did the huuuge sig thing... Not the seniors.

    Re: Dead and Gone?

Echoic plays on halo 3 (seen him from time to time). I think he also plays C&C. Saw him on that too. He sometimes pops in to play 3v3 to mess around. Dopedghost was a friend of echoic. He left when he did. Sometimes posts, but not often. FJ was banned(i hope, he was becoming a complete loser and whiner of the Arbiter) ; felix was banned long ago. Cookiekrisp left the same time as felix(ancient times :D ) because he was sick of the cryo glitch and boosters(the time when only about 5 people were using the cryo glitch, and the first few times people practised boosting on HW.

How about we get pic sigs back, but they have to be a specific size or smaller, and can't be hyperlinked?

I mean, I remember the last straw was some guy expanding a huge invisible sig that was also a hyperlink to a YouTube video talking about how HWars sucked?...

Doesn't that solve both those problems?

    Probably FJ or Felix.

Felix was smarter than that, and FJ wasn't a senior, he was new to the forums when HW launched, he only became popular when  he posted "How to beat prophet rush" vids on Youtube.
