    Re: Gamestop Tournament

Well, originally my girlfriend and I were the only ones signed up, but a kid came in at the last minute. We played first, and after forty minutes of fighting a losing battle, my girlfriend beat me. Then she took another ten minutes to completely destroy the third guy. So even though I did not win personally, I still kind of win anyway.  = D  lol

I won at my local gamestop. There was only 6 other people, I already pre-ordered the game so I told the dude who wrote my name down after I won to give it to the little kid that got beat first! He was like 5!

I belive that when the day of the tornoment uprises, many "last minute gamers" will sing up for a piece of the action and a chance at the game. I personaly won't sign up because I preorderd it so if I won it would be pointless to me.

I won too, but it was nothing.  There were like 18 ppl signed up, and 2 of us showed up.  The other guy hadnt even played the demo.  I thought some ppl might get there while we were playing so I prophet rushed him, and won in like 3 minutes lol.  He shook my hand and walked out, the mgr had to run him down to give him his tshirt.

    Re: Gamestop Tournament

10 people at my tournament, and it pretty much seemed that despite the fact I had played the demo for a good 30 hours or more (Man I can't get enough) that they all had played more then me lol.  It was setup so we could sit and watch both players fight.  I was obviously the only one who had any strategy everyone else only played/talked about how good they were at Halo 3 and how they had never played an RTS before Halo Wars.  So they pretty much just threw army out there like crazy and hoped.  First round I gave up a base in the middle to distract him then swept around behind and took both his orignal bases, leaving him just the one in the middle of my three.  But I lost the second round due to Cutter domination over Forge (MAC blast is just to good of a base destroyer)  Great enjoyment though and these guys were all fast at Deathmatch I must say.  It would have been fun to play the final Skirmish game with them.  The gamestop people were nice and game everyone a shirt pretty much.  So congrats to Gamestop for hosting a fun event and making everyone feel like a winner.....even if i did get beat by a kid who wasn't even born back when i had already been playing AOE for years I had fun.

    Force 78:

Same here, I just got back from the Gamestop Tournament and I won.( My feet were aching from standing up the entire time).

I used the Prophet of Regret the whole time and used the Cleansing Beam to win every single match. I am so thankful, I just saved 60 dollars in my pocket.

Rules state you win the LCE halo wars you got ripped off.

I get to drive to 2 different gamestops to get my 2 copys and its a long drive so yey.

    Re: Gamestop Tournament

Yea I was the first to sign up for the tourny earlier this week so I was looking forward to this sneek peek at Halo Wars.  At about 1:35 I left to get a little early for the tournament at 2.  There were only 5 people participating including myself so the 32 person entry limit wasnt even a problem.

The first match began with me facing a guy about a year older than me and us both choosing the UNSC. I choose Sgt Forge while he went with the scientist lady. I started building supply pads but realized that Deathmatch was just a quick match game so I built tank depots.  I pumped out 3 Grizzlies, one of Forge's special units, and about 6 or 7 of the walking mechs.(I honestly cant remember the names) I attacked a rebel base and began building there and then made a B-line to his base just across the Gulch.  It ends up me attacking his base and he mine.  He cryo freezes all my army and I carpet bomb his.  I kill his base and he kills mine but since i have the second one he ends up losing without one of his own.  HOLYCRAPP = 1

The second match was between two cousins, both choosing the Covenant. One picked Tartarus? and the other picked Prophet of Regret.  So it was the rebellion already happening, and only one could win.(OF COURSE) The Tartarus hero started to pump out brutes and build supply depots, while the Prophet of Regret went for shields first and banshees.  This game was much longer than my first one and so I dont think that I can accurately repeat what happened during that time, suffice to say that they would build armies and clash with one another.  The Prophet of Regret player began to lose because he used the Cleansing Beam to much and eliminated most of his resources.(You start with about 15k or so) Since he had not built as many supply depots, his supplies were not being boosted as much as the Tartarus player's.  With his hero in the lead, Tartarus rushed toward his enemy's base and obliterated what little army that could be mustered with the gravity special attack that Tartarus uses.  The other player tried to run but was hunted down by vampires.

The third match pitted me against the Tartarus Kid and his stupid gravity special attack. I hurriedly attacked the nearby rebel base with grizzly tanks and erected another base there. As soon as my units grouped up again I rushed the other rebel base, in hopes to catch the Covenant player off guard. I successfully pinned his army against the rebel encampment and demolished his army of brutes with the cannon special attack from the grizzlies.  Unfornately he used his gravity special attack with Tartarus and began flinging my tanks around like wind lazily whipping leaves around.  I had to use the disruption bomb to neutralize his special and soon defeated his hero with minimal causalities.  I built a constructed another base upon the rebel's ruins bringing my total base ownership to 3.  What followed was this: I built a small army of Grizzly Tanks, attacked, defeated the army but was hurt by Tartarus' special, killed the base, and chased Tartarus down with the remanding tanks. HOLYCRAPP = 2

The last match was against a guy who had never played before and who had gotten the by because 5 is an uneven number.  He choose Cutter and the match began.  It was actually an easy game for me since he was new.  A few highlights were: 3 spartans and an army of marines attack a base of mine but I repel it with 6 Grizzlies, he begins to counter with the anti-vehicle unit(Wolverine?) and kills several tanks, I capture 4 rebel bases and pump out 14 Hornets to finish him off, his last stand consisted of 1 Vulture and the missles from the 14 Hornets make the game slow down so it looks like its running in slow motion as he is defeated. HOLYCRAPP = 3 = WIN

So I won the small tourney at my Gamestop and it was a pleasure to get to play the game early and see how humble and nice the other players were after losing. This is one thing that I miss since Xbox Live had become the main way of people getting together to play video games. Being able to be in person playing with friends or just fun people.

    Re: Gamestop Tournament

^^^^^ If you dont want to read the wall of text here are some bullet points:

-Tartarus' special ability is really good.

-There were 5 people at my tourney and I won.

-I will enjoy my new game and so should all the other winners.

-These actually arent bullet points because they are being marked with dashes(-).

    Re: Gamestop Tournament

I had fun at mine, but to ensure my victory I just spammed my Covenant heroes with upgrades... and I won in under 20 minutes for each game... 10 people lost to my might!

Of course the players I beat hated me, but hey 80$ beats respect in my opinion =/

lebolud: i just won the one in my district. only 17 people showed up

only 17?  That's a heckuvalot more than any of us...

For me, it was 8.  The rounds we at Blood Gulch.

    First round:

-I beat the guy with PoR easily with the cleansing flame.
-My friend lost to a guy because he's never played the demo at all.
-my friend's little brother won because he had the arbiter.  He was losing three bases to one, but with the Arbiter keep regenerating health, we killed over and over.  Too bad his opponent (using Cutter) didn't know how to use the MAC, disruption bomb, or even the ODST's
-My little brother won rather easily with the brute as his leader.

    Second Round:

-toughest match of all.  It was a back-and-forth. I was Cutter, and he was PoR.  We both got the bases, and i assaulted his secondary with tanks.  I killed it, but he counter-attacked and rebuilt it.  He then attacked mine, but i repelled.  I had to pull out all the stops, using the MAC, disruption, whenever i could.  The game-saver was the ODST's.  Whenever i was in trouble or under attack, i dropped in ODST's to bring chaos to the area.  I had my bases pumping out tanks and brought them whenever i could, also using up my Y attack all the time. My opponent got tangled up and tripped up over my ODST's, and started to focus on them.  I brought in tanks to dispose of the Hunters, killed his secondary base, and moved on to his.  The Prophet was a problem whenever he came up.  I overwhelmed him and killed him up, my hands numb from the intensity of this match.  He had one more unit left on the map, and when i found him, i launched two ODST's and crashed into them ^_^
-my little brother, using the brute, was beat by my friend's little brother using the Arbiter and a couple of Scarabs.  He was just whittled down and beaten even though my bro launched an attack on his base.

    Final Round: different map

    -  I got four bases to his two. I armed my bases with flame mortar turrets.  My friend's little bro tried to do the same Arbiter trick on me, but i used Cutter's disruption bomb to ruin his abilities.  I dispatched the Arbiter quickly, took his secondary base, and attacked his main.  He got out a Scarab at the last second, but i had tanks and ODST's again.  I killed his base and turned to the Scarab, launching more ODST's whenever i could.  I killed off his scarab finally.  He rebuilt his base right in front of me, but four MAC shots in quick succession put a spectacular end to the match.  He then proceeded to call me a 'loser'. XP

I'm wearing my shirt to school Monday :D
