I agree. If the fans ( or lift creaters whatever you want to call them ) are destroyed the Sparrowhawk = Dead. Or it is just so damaged it is unable to be used .... unless you repaired it.

It is a blurred line that lies at the edge of Godhood and Insanity. Guess which side of it I am on.

    Re: Halo Wars Update 03.12.07

Not sure if anyone else has said this first but, jets must use fuel*, fans do not have too. If you were using a small nuclear reactor it would make loads more sense in-atmosphere to use fans/rotars rather than jets because as long as the reactor can power the fans/rotars, it can provide lift. It makes sense for a longsword or pelican to use jets and rockets because they must fly at very high altitudes and even in space, fans do not do well in the upper atmosphere and not at all in space. A vehicle like this does not need to reach high altitudes--it probably couldn't. An aircraft using a small (one or two ton) nuclear reactor and fans could fly for months, maybe years, without refueling once.

Still, there is a possibility that these fan-like structures on top of the aircraft actually are intakes for a jet engine beneath their structure. It would be a little like one of these http://wings.avkids.com/Book/Propulsion/Images/trboprp.jpg except the air would have to be ducted under the structure, unless they have magically miniturized jet engine technology.

(*I suppose you could design a jet engine that used energetic emissions from the reactor to super heat air, thus providing the same function as fuel.Ick!)

Yes u could rangle up a system but u r definitely right. Prob not jets b/c that defeats the futuristic idea that we have small fusion reactors..

oh wow.....ES, ur kinda cheap with the big ones of them, u used the EXACT same "HALO WARS" graphic for the bottom as in the Shortsword wallpaper....it doesn't even look clean lol like u jsut cut it off

Man, you guys are way too critical of ES.

Cheap? I don't see any of you working on record breaking game universes, yet you feel free to blast away about something as dumb as concept art. Concept art! Do you have any idea of how long it takes to make a video game? Years.

Get lives. ES has a job to do. You should be greatful these forums even exist. Personally I think the website and forums were introduced too early since the game is so far from completion.

As fans we have a right to complain, and they have a decision to ignore it. It really isnt a cheap escape, just a lackluster update. There is no real information on the game save for one vehicle with a little description. Not to mention Halo hasnt broken any records except sales and XBL traffic records. He may be making a game, but he has a duty to keep his fan's informed, that is how you form a fanbase, tell them about the game your making and give them constant info to keep them interested. That is how Bungie started, Valve started, and every other game developement team started. As fans we have every right to deman more information because we are the ones who will be purchasing the game in the end, and we should know about what we are purchasing as a consumer. They may have been a little harsh, but as fans they can be.

ultima, i was refering to the actuall art on the images page lol

I really don't feel like Ensemble owes us many huge updates. Sure Bungie releases updates all the time, but Ensemble hasn't done that in the past, and I don't expect it now. All they need to do is release basic info every 4-6 months, I think they're being consistent with how they normally act.

^^^ agreed... We cannot expect something that is not traditional done by a company.. It is understandable that we complain if the updates that are given lack luster but again, as other have mentioned, HW is at a very early stage of development so we cannot be too critical...lol

No offense... but why fans? I thought the UNSC used jet propulsion even in a verticle sense, similar to pelicans. Fans seem ineffective/insignificant compared to that technology. Oh well, they still look awsome.

Lol can't you see that it is, look near the back, it is jet propulsion

It looks like it uses both.

they could at least say something more about the game, not just some little thing with half the content already out, and the half not, was just a little description lol

maybe they could have made the description like the Bungie weapon and vehicle updates

    Re: Halo Wars Update 03.12.07

They probably don't know all the information themselves. It is very very difficult to balance units and factions RTS games, so there is a lot of change in the units and factions over the course of development.

wow, ul7im4 and ninja, they could be giving you no updates at all. And as you said, they need to do it to build a fan base, no they dont. I dont know if you know this, but halos kinda big right now with halo 3 coming this fall and the beta and such. They dont need to build a fan base anymore. As ive said with the movie, it can be a so so game, people will still buy it because it says halo. Be happy they are giving us anything at all because they really dont have to.

Would you buy this game if all you knew was that it had Halo in the name and that it was an RTS? I know they don't HAVE to give out updates, but it is definitely one of the better ways to build up a decent fanbase BEFORE the game releases, instead of having it hacked up by reviews in magazines. Im not saying they have to give us updates, but they chose to and thats how it is. If they are going to give updates, they should try to give them to us on a regular basis, even if that means once a month and not once a week. At least it would be regularly.
