    Humanity is the infection.

Hes lying.  This is another trick by one of the moderators.

And it hes telling the truth, I will PERSONALLY come over there and discuss the issue with Mr. Baldwin/Pottinger.

    Re: infection?

Exactly, they never were hasty with any information, so why would they be now?
The reason is they panicked when Graeme almost basically confirmed the flood in the campaign, and this was supposed to be a surprise.
So they quickly let a moderator "confirm" that it is supposedly humanity.

    Ah, logic, gotta love it.

    Re: infection?

What reason would he have to lie to us? It makes absolutely no sence that he would do that.

Seriously people your reaching for stuff because you just dont like the game. I can see of no reason why it would have been a lie. In fact it seems like the truth because of the wording in that film.

Gold Elite: "What if the infection defiles the relic?"

Arbiter: "I care not for your little life. Open the relic"

With these two lines, yes they are direct quotes with exact wording, it seems to lead that the "infection" would have come from outside the structure not inside. If the Flood were inside the structure already would you not think that the relic would have already been defiled? Seriously read these lines and watch the video again. Your reaching for nothing but air.

When have the Mods ever lied to us? (And don't bring up that crap about what Thunder said about the cyclops, it got twisted from it's original meaning.)

Tricked you? I think it's more likely you got the wrong end of the stick.

    Have fun with that.

And thanks, Frog. The fact they discuss it BEFORE they enter it, means that it's more likely they talking about us, than the Flood.

    Re: infection?

Whatever the case, "infection" is not a fitting word for humans. Even if the Covenant consider us vermin.
It's not like we infect them in any way, unlike the flood does.
    *grabs air*

PS: my explanation for them lying to us actually makes perfect sense. It could however be untrue, but it does make sense, simple as that.

True I have yet to find any other text or line in which the Covenant call us an "infection" but at the same time this is still basicly the first time these races have ever encounterd each other. It could be just a view given to them by their holy text. In those text the have a mentioning of some sort of final trial to over come for their great journy. They could have interprited that text as humans until my theory comes more into play about how the Flood could fit into the Campaign. Thats for a different thread though.

As humans have colonized several plants with Forerunner structures and relics they could be aptly named an infection. Like a plauge we have spread to the Forerunner worlds and have defiled or perverted their surface. This could be a possable explenation as well for how they feel about humans.

Alright with these 2 lines they could have also meant that they were questioning whether or not the flood were contained within it or not.  Not all forerunner facilities have flood in them, just look at Onyx.

Also on the flood theory, notice how long it took them to "open the relic", that means that if it was so difficult that an entire covenant excavation team had to pry it open, then doesnt that give you the hint that the forerunners were trying to keep something inside?

what if they caused the infection?

    Lethe:

What if we had a game where 2 different sides of units engaged each other in some form of military conflict?

    That'd be awesome.

what if Halo Wars had that?

    Re: infection?

At first I thought Solus was trying to hatch a cunning plan too, but watching he vid again with an ear for the humans - it does seem that Solus is telling the truth.

Although the word seems to recollect the flood, it's the way in which it's spoken that makes it seem to be humanity they are refering too. As for the 'infecting' thing, perhaps they're reffering to humanity infecting forunner worlds rather than the sense the flood infect?? Thing Smith from Matrix uno.

    Re: infection?

Simply put, they should have used the word "vermin" for humans, and not infection. That is if the mods are actually telling the truth.

I always figured they were talking about the Flood, that's what Gravemind always refferred to his kind as in Halo 2.
