    Nate Teh Pwnzer:
what happen to all the aspartan 2s and 1s? because i am to cheap to buy the books

Spartan-I project - as I have understood from reading bits and pieces of the novels and talking to my friend about it (who is a halo fanatic) the spartan-I project was to test  out all of the technical/biological enhancements and armor that were to be used in the soon to come spartan-II project.

Spartan-IIs -  The Spartan-II project came when the young spartan-IIs were found at around age 6 by Dr. Catherine Halsey, tested to be genetically suitable where she found about 150 candidates that were suitable then kidnapped about half (due to budget reasons) and replaced them with flash clones (fast growing versions of clones) which died fast of "natural causes" then taken to the UNSC military colony of "Reach" to undergo extensive and painful physical/technical modifications and trained in every aspect of military life/tactics. 23 of the original 68 spartan-IIs died from the modifications, 12 more became disabled from the modifications and were placed in high ranking officer positions since they couldn't handle the full rigors of combat, and the remaining 33 spartans became fully active spartan-IIs in the UNSC and given their armor and naval ranks. (they're not marines, which alot of people think since they fight along with marines all the time)

Spartan-IIIs - Spartan-IIIs were made as a cheaper, and slightly faster replacement for the spartan-IIs. (basically had very close to the same physical enhancements and used SPI armor instead of MJOLNIR) SPI armor seems to use some sort of active camouflage with weaker armor protection and no shield. only 3 companies were made, alpha, (which was wiped out due to a raid on the main covenent shipyard) bravo (which all got owned too except for 2 who now train spartan-IIIs) and gamma.

that's kind of a small description of the history of the spartan projects there's alot more info on wikipedia that I encourage u to check out...

oh, and yes, I've been told they're will be at least one other spartan in halo 3 :)

Re: Will the other spartan reappear in halo 3

More spartans to back up John in single player eh? Sounds fun, this however may have destroyed John's image of "the lone wolf" and "surviving against the odds" bit as he would be helped this time. Still bungie had to give the guy a break.
It's ok if I'm a devil to you, I will use my hellish instruments to make you listen!

HeadsUp, the Spartan-Is never actually trained with any armor. The Spartan-IIs didn't even try it out until after several missions.

The Spartan that will appear in halo 3 to assist the MC is Maria-062, i think. She retired from the program to have a familiy

Re: Will the other spartan reappear in halo 3

    1. you can't just retire from being a spartan when there is a war that leads the human race to the brink of extinction, most probably m.i.a. now, or dead, missing or dead, or! missing and dead!(caboose!church screams) note, ghosts of coral was changed to ghosts of onyx, maria was excvateing on coral, which the name was now changed to onyx, note: either the sentinals killed them or the covenant did.

    2. all spartans have managed to quarantine themselves from the covenant, sidenot: im trying not to spoil anything for ppl who haven't read ghosts fo onyx.

    3.m.c. kicks ass. the end

Again, the Spartan-IIIs of Gamma Class and Gray Team are both developed in ways that suggest further developement.

Re: Will the other spartan reappear in halo 3

It is possible that the Spartan-IIIs Gamma class, could rotate in and out of Onyx for further training. and since Gray Team hasnt been heard from in a year, there may be a story realated to them

Re: Will the other spartan reappear in halo 3

gray team? OH yeah gray team!!! the s2's that are actually m.i.a. right!?!!?!?! There is a distinct possibility that that might happen. Halo 3 is when it all ends. The big year, 2553 folks. Nothing can go past it, the only things that people can do to make a game or book for it is to make it during the time halo3 takes place or after halo3 takes place. thats the only thing you actually can do for basically anything., stay tuned for my annual I'm insane short novel.

I believe there are at least two more novels lined up, but Halo 3 is the end of the John-117 story arc.

    MattWh1te:

yes the spartans will re-apear. anyone who buys the OXM for 360 will have read the Halo 3 article where the writers of the mag were shown 10 seconds of pure footage from the game heres a quote:

"That Bungie showed us the first ever footage of Halo 3 single player was a big surprise. They added if we blinked we'd miss it. The clip began with master chief  spraying bullets around everywhere from the mounted turret of a highly detailed warthog. It charged into what looked like a large open aired multi-level industrial warehouse. The area was rammed ful of covenant enemies, vehicles and ships. World War III was kcking off before our eyes. Cortana could be heard screaming instructions to Master Chief about the annihalation-in-progress and the Halo music was blaring out of the speakers. A covenant wraith was spotted skirting the sides of the enviroment unleashing massive plasma bombs while a covenant ship was hovering over the action giving everything it had in the direction of the chief. When bungie said blink and you'll miss it, they were right. But we spotted them - SPARTANS! For the first time in a Halo game MC looks to have backup in the form of other spartan warriors. We briefly saw the AI-contolled spartan run over to a new type of vehicle we've never seen or heard of jump in and join the battle."

want anymore proof i'll scan the mag article on and post it up heare.

i have been through bungie.net, xbox.com, and oxm.com  and this is the review of the opening seconds of the game i found... i beleive what you said to be false, because nobody has even mentioned it, they would not release that kind of info over a year from launch, and if it was released, they would have talked about it in a weekly update..... sorry buddy

The single-player footage opens in the middle of a gray warzone. It's colored in a palette I haven't seen in the Halo-franchise. Everything is painted in grays -- the colors look like the New Caprica encampment on SCI FI's BattleStar Galactica. We're on what appears to be Earth -- the large, blown-out buildings aren't Forerunner architecture. It's a city, not unlike the now-dismantled New Mombasa (which was destroyed by a Covenant cruiser's Slipstream jump in Halo's previous episode).

The footage is all in-game and being played (it's been captured using Halo 3's new Saved Films movie feature). Think back to the E3 2003 presentation -- it's like that, but not dark. Master Chief's Battle Rifle looks different; has it been upgraded? It almost looks partially cobbled together. There appears to be wear and tear on the weapon -- the muzzle, while open in Halo 2, seems to be even moreso right now (Bungie tells us it is the same Battle Rifle, despite any perceived aesthetic differences). The scope still reflects light, and now it appears to use the real time reflection we saw in the H3 announcement teaser.

After a few quick steps forward, the Master Chief hops into the back of a Warthog with a Gauss cannon mounted on the back. There's the familiar whirr of Warthog engines humming to life and the hog spins out from underneath the building's overhang. After lurching out from beneath the overhang, the road opens into a staging area. Overhead there are explosions streaking the sky; in front of the Warthog is a Covenant Wraith tank. The familiar purple tank is swaying side to side and the Warthog screams past it. Master Chief rotates the gun backwards to target the Wraith tank and looks to the sky to see a Covenant Drop Ship taking off -- two banshees flying in formation fly by, right behind the Drop Ship. They don't stop to attack -- they just fly by.
The familiar whine of a Covenant Ghost howls and Master Chief lowers the Gauss cannon. But this Ghost is unlike any Ghost we've seen before. Instead of the two small wings that normally frame a Ghost, this model is more tube-like in design. The sound is unmistakable, just like its bumpy hover. There's a much larger driver at the back of this new Ghost-type vehicle -- a Brute. This is the first vehicle we've seen from what Griesemer describes as "the Brute Sandbox."

The vehicle appears similar in color to the Covenant Ghost. It sounds the same as well (but this is pre-Alpha code, so it could be placeholder sound), but the wings have been folded up and the result is a much thicker, tube-ish vehicle. As Master Chief lowers the Gauss cannon on the Ghost, the demo ends.
