did you read the first strike?

um when cortona to the covenant ship into the atmosphere of threshold she thought that its magnetic forces would distrupt the covenants ability to guide the plasma

now given the fact that threshold was a gas giant or somthing harvests magnetic forces may not be as powerful

    this is only speculation

Yah, I read it. Just forgot that tidbt of information >_<

Harvest's magnetic field would not affect it, seeing as how the Covenant could do it on Earth and Harvest's magnetic field is smaller than Earth :P

true, since they glassed new mombasa and countless planets

Another reason for the Logic vs. Fun thread, but Paragon killed it. :'(

Guess it was time for logic vs. fun to go.

Should I make a logic vs. fun 2? Number 1 was quite a bit of fun.

It wasn't even helpful and didn't even solve an argument...

Re: How would the S.O.F. "Survive"?

one siple problem with what you said... this isnt harvest

then again, halo 3, HUGE covenant fleet at earth, but the humans still had a decent number of ships left to try nuke truth in his for-runner ship. maybe the covenant didnt consider the SoF a big enough threat to bother killing it.

Re: How would the S.O.F. "Survive"?

At the time the SOF is involved in the reclaimation of Harvest, I think all the covie ships in the area were destroyed (I think it took the UNSC five years), leaving the UNSC to concentrate on dealing with the infantry still on the surface.

Re: How would the S.O.F. "Survive"?

So the covenant on the surface won't have reinforcements?

I do agree with your theory.

Re: How would the S.O.F. "Survive"?

^ yeah that makes sense.  I doubt the covenant would have any sort of communication gear on the surface that could reach High Charity to call for backup.

Re: How would the S.O.F. "Survive"?

The Covenant wouldn't make the same mistake twice, they would know the potential danger of the S.O.F. So I have come up with two theories.

    1. The S.O.F either bluffed with nuclear mines, or really did put nukes around themselves to stop the Covies from reaching them.

    2. Do we know that S.O.F is in space? Perhaps it crash landed and the Covies couldn't find it. That might explain why there was a destroyed ship on an arctic plane in the beginning of the demo. Also, the supply pads would receive supplies normally even if S.O.F was on the ground. It's still pelicans going to there base to drop off supplies.

Just two potential theories. Post your thoughts.

They didn't glass New Mombasa, Truth's cruiser made an in-atmospheric slipspace jump, thus creating a giant explosion that wiped out everything.

Ripping open the atmosphere that leads into space is a no-no.

Re: How would the S.O.F. "Survive"?

if you've read the books, safety in numbers really doesnt make sense. because over reach, they had an entire fleet and had their buts burned to nothing by i believe either a few ships or an armada. either way they lost a huge poretion of their fleet with barely any survivors.
