So there for it has to take place in the some 30 years that it skips in the book. On some unknown planet.

Re: So, where did the trailer take place?

The world was a cold planet, and I believe that was a forerunner structure, so it could be a Halo. Maybe where those unnacounted for spartans, and Kelly, where taken to. Also it's called Halo Wars so it should have something to do with a Halo and tie into the current story arch.

They don't bother landing troops if they can just glass the planet. They're there for some forrunner swag (like that big ass tower). Many bothan spies died to get this information....

That's not true. They glassed their own troops on FoR. But they also took out a few SPARTANs with them.

Re: So, where did the trailer take place?

I don't think it is a human inhabited planet only because of two things. If it was it would be glassed and second off, the architecture didn't look human. It could possibly be another ring or a Forerunner planet.

Re: So, where did the trailer take place?

Well, I guss we won't know for a while, but it's probably one of the early planets invaded by covanent. The marines seemed a little surprised to me.

Re: So, where did the trailer take place?

    1) Its not a ring. In the first game and the second book they had no idea what a halo was. They also includes Cortana so even if we'd found a halo and it was put in some classified ONI Doc she would have been able to find it.

    2) Its not Harvest. The glassing of Harvest is what put the Spartan II program on the rush so a full squad of battle ready Spartans on Harvest before it was glassed is impossible.

    3) Its not necisarily a "cold planet" it could very well be an Earth-like planet @ one of the poles.

    4) Its more than likely not Reach because that was right before the discovery of halo.

    Forerunner Structures

    Master Chief:

im thinking sometime between harvest invasion [2525] and reach [2550]...it was definitly a human held planet in between these two

Well there was some cov. structure.

More likely those were either human or Forerunner structures. To the best of our knowledge, no human force has ever made an incursion on a Covenant world. That would have been the Master Chief's mission aboard the Pillar of Autumn before Reach was attacked: to infiltrate Covenant space, kidnap a Covenant leader, and ransom him

However, we do know the Covenant are scouring the galaxy for Forerunner ruins and artifacts. The Prophet of Truth, during Halo 2, mentions that humans have "blocked access" to sites sacred to the Covenant, thus leading to hostilities. In Halo Wars we may get to see the genesis of this conflict; UNSC forces defending human colonies from Covenant attacks, while the Covenant are trying to secure artifacts and sites they believe to be imperative for their "great journey".

As for the rings themselves-- I doubt we'll see one, as it would be hard to explain why the discovery of Installation 04 is such a surprise in Halo 1 if human forces had seen one as much as 25 years prior.

We cant tell but we can narrow it down:

-it took place before the fall of reach because there are multiple spartans in it.

-it is not on a covenant planet because the humans had never been to one before halo.

By doing this, we can tell that it is on one of the human planets the covenant attacked before the fall of reach/halo

ummm if this took place BEFORE fall of reach then we wouldnt be face covenant.. also we've never been on a covenant planet before closest thing we got to is high charity

hello??? the fall of reach was ages after the covenant-human war started. the covenant had glassed a lot of planets before that remember? go reread the halo books.

sorry for the double postin but im a forum n00b and i just noticed this.

if it was 25 years prior to halo, the master chief (john) would be 15 (im not sure about this correct me if im wrong) so is he in the game t all?
