I see the hunters is:
1. their worm-like feel allows them to dig into the ground.
2.much like ants they would have colonies underground and work together to survive.
3. if threatened by predators they would build up into a larger creature to scare off the predator. Much like how a fish swim in schools to act as larger fish.
4.After awhile they began to use the larger creature to eat more, and move easier.
5.My conclusion is that the hunter worms were once parasitic.Latching on to creatures and eating them away. THey would have lived underwater. But soon there was a climate change and the ocean dried up forcing hunter worms onto the ground. Their skin was weak against the Sun and predators could easily eat the slow worms, so they began dig into the ground for protection. They began to build underground colonies. Soon they began to imitate other animals and began to build into larger creatures. This allowed them to dwell on the soil. And they killed animals and ate dragged them back to the colonies to be eaten. Then at the pinnacle of their evolution they began to build up soil to make the colonies.
