Re: Introducing the UNSC Spirit of Fire

actually, it is a Pheonix-Class modified colony ship, which i said earlier, can carry around 1,000+ marines and around 30 scorpions.

if i'm right. it's bigger than the Pillar of Autumn, making around 2 kilometers big........

    i think.....

Is anyone else reminded of the old ironclads when they look at that ship?

Re: Introducing the UNSC Spirit of Fire

The PoA carried more than 1000 marines..can't remember exactly but i think it was 1000 ODST's, 3000 marines..or 1000+ marines..

As a colony ship it'd have to carry enough people to begin an entire colony, which is alot, enough materials to build basic housing, possibly terrforming facilities, quarries, ect to get more raw materials, tools, vehicles, comms equipment able to communicate with other systems, possibly some security/military personel and vehicles

Also, as the MAC's are the only thing we can really compare with other ships, i'd say it's roughly 2-3x as longer the PoA, 4x the width and twice the depth/height

ah. yes. the PoA only had 500 ODST's and around that many marines. i thought. because in the book, 400 ODST's dropped to the Halo.

and Many marines took all the escsape pods, so around 700 marines.

and the PoA had a light mac gun, the size of a frigates, i think, that could fire 3 rounds in one charge.

so maybe, the SoF's mac could be a supermac, like on Cairo Station.  And as a colony ship, it would have an est. 8,000 people. now marines guessing. and around a tank battalion.

so, the SoF would be more like a Supercarrier.

Re: Introducing the UNSC Spirit of Fire

YES, MY GOD, of course the ship will be in the game.  Read the faq please, it states that the storyline follows the ship, Spirit of Fire, and he says it in the E3 demo too.  In the E3 demo he says Spirit of Fire is orbiting, and it has a MAC, lets aim it, and see what it does.

So yes to both of your questions.

Re: Introducing the UNSC Spirit of Fire

It's unlikely it has a SMAC, specialy as it has 3 barrels

And a frigate size MAC is standard..why does everyone think there's a difference?

There's a MAC, used by all UNSC ships unless it's modified, and then there's a SMAC on the stations..

There hasn't really been any other "standard" MAC's detailed.

Also, it's unlikely it's like a super carrier

Supercarriers carry alot of space-bourne strike craft, it's supposedly their major role, the SoF has alot of hangars, yes, but those will very likely be full with atmospheric aircraft rather than longswords

Actually, i think, there are different sized MACs, but those are only found on cruisers. the Frigate MAC is standard, but like i said, it is a "modified" Ship, and you confirmed that: There's a MAC, used by all UNSC ships unless it's modified, and there's a SMAC on the Stations.

also, there are 6 visible hangars, and the PoA had.... 2? i think.

and one MAC coil normally spans the entire ship length. so, if this ship is huge, there will be 3(?) maybe normal, but 2-3 times as powerful Mac guns. also, we should figure out later how many archer missile pods there are and how many autocannons.
