    Re: Covenant as Playable Faction?

this is probably a dead thread, but i really didnt want to start a whole new thread just for a question, but one question about the covenant, in some of the books ive read, the covenant that attacked mankind was a fraction that broke off from the actual races that united, so my question lies within if the fraction that broke off the actuall covenant the fraction that attacked mankind, what about the other part of the covenant? i mean after all the prophets kinda hijacked the forerunners dreadnaut, (ship thing in halo 2) so would the other fraction of the covenant be concidered friendly? concidering the fact that technicly mankind was some how aquanted (sp) with the forerunners?

just a random question that popped up after reading the contact harvest book, and for some who hasnt read it >SPOILER WARNING<

    Re: Covenant as Playable Faction?

well i was basicly an interrpretaion in contact harvest when the covenant stumbeled upon harvest they noticed alot of relics, but basicly after the whole ordeal the book kindof hints, that the relics had something to do with some of the people living on harvest, so i figured man kind had something to do with it, and the where i got the 2nd fraction of the covenant, i belive its also in contact harvest or in ghost of onyx, the prophets either had a civil war with the other fractions (2nd part of covenant) and basicly stole the forerunner dreadnaught from the prophets homeworld and went from their and basicly just took anyone loyal to the cause, but idk ill follow up with a quote once i find it, shouldnt be to long

but anyways what do u guys think? plausable? or not?

    Re: Covenant as Playable Faction?

ok well anyways i couldnt find the 2nd fraction part of the covenant, but i know its in their somewhere, but i do have some more evidance for mankind being somehow aquanted (SP) with the forerunners, so in Halo 1, when first meating 343 guilty spark he calls u the reclaimer, and in halo one thru three, either u (master chief) or any human are the only beings able to interact with the halo's or to activate in halo 3's case, all though the covenant are more fluent in the forerunners tech. they from my understanding, they still needed mankind to activate the rings, or the ark. then with in the books, in ghost of onyx when the sentinals attacked blue team, one of the warrior class sentinals made contact with one of the sparans, using a latin language, latin was one of the widely spoken languages in the anciant history of mankind, and i do belive it also said something on the lines of reclaimer, but anyways this is all just a wild guess, but i feel pretty good on it, but what do u guys think on it?

In the last part of halo3 the prophet had to use johnson so their is a little bit of support.

    Re: Covenant as Playable Faction?

thanks, all in all the basic concept some how in some way i beleve mankind had something to do with the forerunners, im still looking for the second fraction of the covenant, if anyone wants to help id appreciate it

but please if anyone else has an idea or something to add please do, i find this part of the halo story less explored and it personally think it would be a good place to start if we would like to find more out, who knows, maybe bungie just might throw us a bone for our efforts

    Factions Confusion...

I read one post on the forums that said that the UNSC will be sub-divided into two sub-factions, is this true? Because if it is, I'm thinking of a certain game that decided it would be a good idea to make two Greek civs.

    Re: Covenant as Playable Faction?

Humans are in some way related to forerunners and are noted by covenant (Forgot the name) as forunner relics, which they view as reclaimation, It is indeed not reclaimation but reclaimer. Humans somehow tie into the Forunners grand design (Most likely as galactic peace-keepers) and were given the ability to activate the installations if the flood returned. This is stated by 343 Guilty spark and also explains why covenant are called, "Meddlers." while the humans are, "Reclaimers" It also helps to read the terminals.
If all else fails; Duck. As a defensive stratagem it's very unreliable, but incredibly reassuring for a moment or two.
