The Videlicet:
Vigil: I wouldn't say it was a failure. Recognition takes time. If you felt it wasn't very good, then you shouldn't have put it up, or at least edited it.
Whats the point in posting some thing if it doesnt please your audience? I want to know if it was worth carrying on writing.
If people did not like it and didn't tell me then i would carry on posting chapters and it would be a wast of time.
Err....self satisfaction. I only have one consistant reader, and though his comments are greatly appreciated, I don't really do it for him. I do it because I WANT TO.
I had long periods where I was just me posting the story, sure I will admit it was depressing, but I perservered, as I liked the story, the characters and I wanted to finish it. If you need the audience to tell you to continue, you probably don't have the commitment to finish it. If you don't care enough about it to continue without a simple yay or nay from other people, I don't think you're cut out for this.
But who am I to rant about commitment, I'm a lazy sod, and The fans following my stories is one of the reasons I'm still doing it. I'm just saying, if you don't believe in your own work, there's no point continuing.
Vigil is watching you
