It was a human world or else there would have been no reason to try to defend it. It might of been Reach. 

It wasn't a human world. One of the marines mentioned that it was a reconnaissance mission, and there was a Covanent base there. It was a Covanent planet.

This game takes place WAY before Halo is discovered by the humans as it takes place around the time of the first contact with the Covenant.

What I was getting at is that a planet with the small group of SPARTAN could possible be the one in the trailer.

Reach was not a COV. Planet.

 I don't think so. The humans havn't found any Covenant planets. The Covenant found us first, and we spent the entire time defending our worlds, not finding theirs. The marines could have been on recon of a suspicous craft or something along those lines. I'm pretty sure this will take place on the outer Colonies, such as Harvest.

Like i said befor, the Human Covenant war has been raging for 30 or so years. UNSC has been involved for all 30 of those years, so if this is of of the first incounters with the Covenant then reach has nothing to do with it!

could it be harvest?

 

afterall, that was the convenants FIRST target, and if this is the FIRST encounter, then that makes the most sense to me

The Fall of Reach refers to the Spartans having been deployed to fight Covenant ground forces numerous times on human colony planets only to be evactuated before the planet was glassed (destroyed by plasma) by orbiting Covenant warships. So even though glassing planets was the Covenant's method of operation, numerous ground encounters did occur meaning the trailer is not neccesarily Sigma Octamus IV, Reach, or Halo.

That is very likley. When I read about it, Harvest struck me as a small planet. Small planet means less gravity, less atmospher and likley lower tempritures.
