Re: To make a great Halo Movie

I think the first Halo movie would be better off at the start of the war with the covenant... maybe based on the Contact Harvest book.  The Spartans (and the most likely movie to be made) is basing it over the loss of Reach.  The Spartans were there, and were awesome, but were ultimatley unable to stop the convenant.  Using Reach we would get to see space fights, Spartan fights, and also get introduced to Master Chief as the "main" spartan since that is where he loses his squad/fellow spartans.

I fully expect that Halo:Reach will be the launching platform for the movie... depending on how well the game sells I expect the movie to be picked up again shortly after.

(And btw.. I think Sgt. Forge > Sgt. Johnson).

Re: To make a great Halo Movie

Well, Sgt. Forge vs Sgt. Johnson (a matchup Johnson would win hands-down) is relevant, isn't it?

I really hope that they don't make it about the Spartans. I really don't think it'd make a good movie. I wouldn't mind them being in it, but I hope that it's only in a very minor role, rather than the story revolving around them.

If it was about Reach, it would have nothing to do with the Master Chief. He wasn't on the planet at the time.

Re: To make a great Halo Movie

Master Chief was at Reach during the attack.. he was on the Pillar of Autumn running an OP at a docking station while the rest of his team assisted the ground forces on the planet.  Spartans were a very minor element in the Halo Wars movies which took place way before Reach.. so I think that shows they can show Spartans and their kick-assness without featuring the movie about them.  Like I said, I think the movie will likely show the Spartans getting wiped out and then end with John and the Pillar slipping away to Halo (que 2nd movie?).

I meant Forge was cooler than Johnson to me.

Re: To make a great Halo Movie

ok lets get this over with, spartans cannot be a main character in the the movie they have no character builds, or atleast MC doesnt through out the whole haloverse.

so the main character has to be some one else hopefully i say keyes or something.or make it like the Lord of the rings where it switches from different parties, bad and good characters

Not Keyes.  He's to important to have his rep tarnished by a movie

Re: To make a great Halo Movie

More annoying was that you spend all of Halo CE saving him and then he dies right at the end anyway, despite all you've done.

Halo: The Flood pissed me off. All of it. It was terribly written, and they pretty much just retold Halo CE anyway, just with a bit more of what was going on while you were away. And those bits were pretty dodgy.

Well it's not like Dietz had the freedom Nylund did with The Fall of Reach, so I wouldn't say it was a terrible book. It was a good effort, but an unreasonable goal.

Also, Keyes is used too much. Do not want.

Re: To make a great Halo Movie

    I still hated it.

I have nothing against Keyes whatsoever, other than that he died.

Also, to whoever said it, how does the chief not have any character development? We see he has a sense of humour and his style in the games, and through the books you feel you really get to know him. Unless you never watched the cutscenes? I like Spartans, but I don't want a movie about them. I just don't think it would work (and I'm sorta sick of them).

Re: To make a great Halo Movie

Well yeah the flood doesn't appear until that part but when it does appear it should be scary? i don't know its hard to describe the flood as it is.

i simply dont understand your last statement, what i meant was that Halo, being a mature rated game, should at least have a lot of blood (more blood than a pg-13 movie) so it doesnt have that unrealistic feel too it. also, im 17 so im pretty sure i can watch pg-13 movies xD

Re: To make a great Halo Movie

In my opinion, they should not do a movie over the events of the Games or Books. They should come up with an original battle that the UNSC actually won. Like someone said earlier, minimal Spartans, NO FLOOD but maybe a Forerunner Artifact which is the reason the Covenant just hasn’t completely Glassed the Planet.

Some type of Arbiter should be included, leading a ground force to take the Artifact.

ODSTs should be used in the wide ground battles, where they have the camera zoomed out to show massive amounts of UNSC Ground Forces vs the Covenant. When they have the camera like that, drop a couple ODST pods in the middle to show how crazy the ODSTs were. Then have a couple Shortswords bomb a trio of Wraiths but have a Banshee follow a Shortsword and shot one down, causing it to crash in the middle and create a huge crash site that divides the battlefield.

But they should mostly concentrate on the story of a Marine and his Squad or something. All we hear about are the famous Navy Captains, Spartans or ODSTs with the exception of Forge and Prototype.

Re: To make a great Halo Movie

I think that for the first movie they should focus on Reach but perhaps mention some of the earlier events and planets like Harvest or Arcadia. They could finish the movie off with the Pillar escaping and this way there wouldn't be any flood in the first movie. Then when they do finally get to introducing the Flood it has to be scary like the moment in CE where we first meet them in that facility.

Ah the mind. Such a frail thing. I will enjoy shattering yours like glass!

The only fight i can think of with this happening is on harvest ( halo wars has exactly what u just said)

The battle of the ark has this aswell as the level storm when u see a shortsword get shot down by the huge anti-air gun

But they should mostly concentrate on the story of a Marine and his Squad or something. All we hear about are the famous Navy Captains, Spartans or ODSTs with the exception of Forge and Prototype.

Maybe because normal marines wont last long enough to be focused on, at least with Spartans and ODST's you can have different marines take important roles then die and then the next mission you have a new group along side the spartan ( charlie company where 4 survivors on reach and where important AND fought along side 3 injured Spartans so reach has that covered also.

So in all Reach can have the last two points no problem just having an arbiter running around could be on another planet during another fight

Do a lord of the rings thing where you skip form 1 major battle to the next so one minute you see Spartans causing chaos then a huge explosion then it goes to another fight where the arbiter or a chieftain is involved in

Aloysius:If you think about it, Galactus is a giant purple alien who eats planets. Kind of like the Covenant.

It's official, straight from the mouth of an employee who works on Halo.

    The Covenant eat planets.

Re: To make a great Halo Movie

i think the best they could do is have a series of movies i really want to see the spartans in training and the battle at reach so after watching the training the loss of the spartans feel's more important, then in a another movie show the ODST side of things when the spartans are first brought in and why the ODST hate the spartans so much

Re: To make a great Halo Movie

    The arbiter idea is stupid.

It was stupid in Halowars, and it'll be stupid in a movie.

There is no way you can explain the need for an arbiter given the circumstances. Arbiter's are only created in periods of great need. The humans were not seen as a great enough reason, nor were the Flood. It took a civil war to necessitate the creation of an Arbiter.
