    Re: The End of Halo?

Although I love everything Halo I don't believe it's fair or good that M$ carries on Halo after Bungie's had enough.

Bungie created Halo and revolutionized the gaming industry, they built a complex universe from scratch, and then carried it on through various games. Unfortunately they were under M$' rule at the time and had to give them Halo when they broke of July 7, 2007. Bungie has and will continue with 2 more great games and then they're done.

Now think about it, Bungie built Halo's foundation, they created the story, they created the hero, the villains, the twists, the secrets, everything. And M$ snatches it away for a quick buck. I put faith in 343 Industries, but I doubt they will live up to their predecessors; who undoubtedly will go down in gaming history for their creation.

    Re: The End of Halo?

Paulus Magintie:theres a small problem here about the whole halo is the next star wars.

PEOPLE WATCHED AND LIKED STAR WARS

People have commented that halo has out stayed its welcome and that Halo wars,ODST and reach is milking the halo cow.

Halo to become the new star wars needs the movie and possible sequals to that movie to be a global hit.

But for now its a game that people think have gone to far. even though they fil to remeber How many star wars games and Call of duty games have been made.

Now keep in mind the ones that hate halo are COD fanboys, and the was a game brought out every year with the call of duty title. thats 6 years so 7 maybe 8 games next year will be another COD title.

While halo is in a 3 year cycle so 3 major games since 2001, with halo wars and ODST in the middle, one for the fan base and 1 which was microsoft getting greedy then we have reach next year so thats not bad for 9 years. and have about the same games of COD.

But i think even if people hate the franchise they will no doubtledly watch the halo movie i can imagine maybe $200mill in a few months as halo the game did sell $100mill in 3 weeks

I've one word to debunk the whole "Halo isn't the new Star Wars because there are people who don't like it"; TREKIES.

343 has a LOT of people from Bungie, at least that's my impression.

    Re: The End of Halo?

    Paulus Magintie:

Of course halo wont die its the biggest gaming franchise ever created bigger than COD bigger than Grand theft auto and even grand turismo.

Statistically, not really.  Sure, Halo: CE revolutionized console FPS's.  However, CoD as a FIRST GAME had more players on it than any other game in history---ON THE XBOX 360 ALONE.  Xbox 360 has almost 15 million people who play/played online. Halo: CE and Halo 2, and Halo 3, and ODST all did not have close to 15 million on Xbox/Xbox 360.  Imagine people who only play on single player and stuff, which is probably another 5 million or so on CoD.  Another 12 million I believe on PS3, and a few hundred thousand on computer.  I can expect that number to at least DOUBLE with MW2 on all fronts.

Halo was the best thing of its time, yes.  However, CoD is proving to be a MUCH greater and much more promising franchise than Halo will continue to be.

I do agree also halo does'nt need bungie to stay but halo does need them to stay on top as we see halo wars was done without bungie while it has survived for now it was'nt a huge hit, hey ODST was the biggest game this year untill MW2 tonight.

like reach will be undoubtedly the biggest game of 2010 the last and final halo game made by bungie so we know there going to make it big, like halo 3 being the end of the trilogy.

Kidding right? Ever heard of Starcraft II? Even then, we don't know all the games that are coming out in 2010.  There may be some omgwtfbbqsauce game that shocks the world that comes out in 2010.  Something with the same effect Left For Dead had.

I know for a fact that if the halo name starts to suffer bungie will step in at some point maybe by showing us what happend to the cheif and completley finish it.

    No they wont.]/b]

The halo film will be the biggest blockbuster made and possibly beat halo 3's income on release.

    [b]No it wont.

Halo will not die, regardless of whether Bungie continues (or doesn't) to make games. If they stop, then Microsoft/ 343 Industris will get other developers to develop another Halo game, same as Ensemble Studios developed Halo Wars.

Bungie is not Halo. Halo is Halo and doesn't need Bungie to live on.

Not only is there way more potential for the Halo game franchise, but there is the potential movie trilogy, as well as more books that will probably be published in the upcoming years.

It's sort of like the new Star Wars. Not quite, yet, but once it gets its movies out there, it may very well become the new Star Wars of our time.

I'm pretty sure that $500 million is for release week sales (including pre-orders), but I could be wrong. not too mention, 3 years doesn't change anyhing. Halo 3 is not in fact the most bought video game, it's actually some old-school game for one of the ancient consoles.

Halo gets way too much credit for evolving console shooters...They did alot of stuff first, but it would have been done anyways. Just like Beatles didn't invent good music, they just did it first. Same with Halo Wars, it's just different because it was made specifically for the console...it's not just a port from PC with weak controls.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the storyline in Halo, all throughout. But the gameplay was lacking in my opinion. Multiplayer was fun for ages, but the campaign actually got boring pretty fast. I only bothered beating it for the story.

I like history and I like world news (especially when it involves warfare)  so I liked CoD's storylines too.

Originality is good, but innovation and progressive development are better. Who invented the lightbulb? Not Edison, he just made it better. And so everyone remembers him, whereas no one remembers the original inventor.

CoD improved alot of the standard shooter elements, that's why it's gold in my eyes.

EDIT: I don't like CoD 5/WaW because it took everything CoD4 did, but didn't really add or improve anything, except add extra gore (which was nice) amd Nazi zombies...Hooray for Treyarch. IW has greatly improved each of their games so far.

Me sir cant be a halo fanboy as i dont have all the merchantdice i dont even hav halo 2 i downloaded CE off the xbox marketplace to see what it was like.
Not as good as people said.

But i played MW on the PC coz my bro bought it and could'nt use it so i installed it on my new com, i later played with somebody i know on the xbox and the controls are really confusing.

But also 19v19 matches are insane your cant get that on the console

I did'nt say they where authority im just saying they did the research on bungie and at the moment call of duty and made documentary.

And i have said this before i cant be arsed with grammar, i don't use it anywhere else except on a dam job application form.

Oh and about MW selling the most copy's your right my bad :D just watch one of those vids on youtube( got uploaded a few hours ago) and they out sold and had the most players online than halo 3. BUT the different platforms helped achieve that while halo is only on 1 console

im sure if u knock all the other consoles out of the equation it would have less sales not by much though

Halo died on November 9, 2004 ( the story anyways).  They'll keep making games, even if it's not Bungie that's making them.  The name is too good to waste.  It's kinda like what Axl Rose did with Guns N' Roses with Chinese Democracy.  He kept the name even though Chinese Democracy had pretty much an entirely different lineup than original GN'R and a different sound.  It's a good marketing strategy.

I'm trying to discourage people from posting attention-whoring posts at all, stuff like "convince me to stay" is ridiculous. If they want to leave so badly, I will help them on their way.

Im just saying if people other than the halo players hate halo then it'll never be comparable to star wars i did'nt say it was others where i was saying why it would'nt be if you re-read what i put.

But ok i should've remembered some people dont like star wars but hey i 4got lol i hate trek so it did'nt occur to me

What about all the Star Wars people that left after Episode 3?

You're kidding, right? Halo 2 did nothing but expand on the (vague and patchy) storyline of Halo: CE...
