You Sir, are quite right. You don't tell them. Do you tell you bank to give you your interest? No, they had better ***-well give it to you on time.

OK, bad example, but w/e. You don't tell them.

Why do you need help with this? Cleaning a disc isn't exactly a difficult task.

Secondly, why are you posting personal problems on a game forum?

Where else am I going to post this? Idk how to clean discs and I don't want to ruin it. I included some Halo Wars details in the OP so it's not off topic.

Re: How do you clean a disc?

I got a very rudimentary system for cleaning my disks--and it has worked for the past 6 years on any system.

Get five or six Q-Tips, two soft tissues (or toilet paper if it' softe nough) and a sink.  Gently wet one side of each Q-tip and run it over the dirty, rimy, etc. parts of the disk.  -NOTE DO NOT GO OVER THE LITTLE RING IN THE MIDDLE. IT'S SHINY. DO NOT TOUCH. KAY- and just get the entire thing moist.  Use the dry end of each Q-tip to thin it out over the disk in all sides.  ONLY RUN IT OVER THE CENTER RING UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO.

Once the water is all thinned out, make sure to apply some pressure when applying water--and thinning it out--get the tissue and/or toilet paper and gently run it over the disk like you're cleaning eye-glasses.  Go in soft circles, pushing the water, per se, to the edges of the disk until it's completely dry.

EDIT: But be smart and DL the game to your harddrive so it doesnt rely on your darn disk.

Sometimes when I pop in HW, the disc refuses to load, and I have to keep trying to blow on it like it's a friggin SNES cartridge. Eventually it loads, but I recently discovered a new problem. My disc suddenly has trouble loading The Docks and Tundra. It's not like a 100% chance it will fail, but more like 25% but it is EXTREMELY annoying. Especially if I have to leave a 2v1 for my teammate or I lose half a 1v1 trueskill because I happened to disconnect against a recruit.I even had a chance to play  proom 13 on my smurf, but I went unreadable =(.

So anyway how do you clean a disc?

i have a disc cleaner but, i find strangely enough, clean out the hole in the middle and it will work 5/6 times

i used my PSP cloth thingy to clean my Jak II disc, and that thing hadn't worked for years. Once i rubbed it a lot the disc actually loaded. if this involves scratches then it works

Re: How do you clean a disc?

You have to rub it with a cloth, but make sure the cloth isn't fragile like a tissue, as that leaves bits in the disc and only makes it worse. Don't put any liquid on the cloth (or disc).  Rub from the middle to the outside and back again.  Don't rub in a circle right round the disc as this damages it.

And also try to turn of your xbox 'properly' (use the centre button on the controller, not the power switch) as this can cause the xbox to not red discs properly.
