    Re: Countering a Covenant Turtle

Ah ok, I'll admit I was in a bit of exaggeration. My WHOLE army was gone because he started pumping the counter to my initial attack, so I had to change the depots to something else and pump an army, it didn't cross my mind to fly in the same thing really quick...

However, I TRIED flamethrowers, just not in the quantity you're talking about. 20 flamers (and a constant pump after they die, plus 10 hawks was my army. I sent in flamer 1st, but they died (it seemed) very fast because of the large anti-infantry turrets he had.

After the match I spoke with him and he said that I should have sent the hawks to destroy turrets first. To which I thought his vamps would have destroyed me, but w/e. My approach failed hard...

I never would have thought to send dispensable units in SECOND after the more powerful force.  (But maybe that's why I always seem to lose those big battles...)

Anyway, thanks for the advice. Especially looking at another topic it seems flamethrowers and wolverines are the way to go! For the curious, here's what I tried:

    10 Hawks + 20 Flame Throwers

    20 Gauss +  5 Wolverines + 5 Hawks

    13 Tanks

9 Hawks + 3 Tanks + 4 Wolverines + 7 Hogs (Did it twice. First time took him to the situation described. Second time failed. HARD)

So yeah, thanks for the input. The match wasn't lost. I literally gave up because I was sick of the turtle (and it was a friend of mine). So thanks, I'm an idiot, hopefully I'll improve!

Any other advice would be appreciated as well.  Thank you!

I'm a bit curious now...couldn't you have bombarded his turrets with Cobras and defended you position with tanks and flamers with a spartan wolveine and jacked vampires?

    Verde:

If you wanted to make more points and kill your enemy fast, you should had gone flamers + wolverines. Yeah, you will leave room for him to make counters for your units but you can valley the crap out of the turrets and any production building that he may have. Now, if you wanted to kill him a little bit slow but with higher chances of winning, you should had go flamers and gauss. keep on spammin gauss!! you can add me if you want: Lunatik101 and we can put it to the test.

     hope this helps.

I have tried getting a Cobra containment on turtling Covenant, it usually doesn't work. They die really fast from leader powers. Some good use of d-bomb might help, but I find Cobras to be most effective against UNSC.
