What was? This is a dependant clause on its own (therefore making it a fragment and, simply, an incomplete sentence). You also don't clarify on what 'It' is. It's a pronoun with no noun, so what was a year ago? You need to specify on your subject there.

This sentence and the one before should be merged with a semi-colon to make it a complete sentence---granted that you fixed the noun issue before and capitalized that 'I'.

First of all, never use contractions. "Let us just say" is a bit more proper than the former. You are also missing a bunch of comma's there, making it sound a bit....iffy.
