    Re: What if...

    My suggestions:

1: Peter Jackson. Original planned-to-be director of the alleged Halo movie, laat at what the guy did with recent movies like: King Kong and Lord of the Rings. He will always remain my first pick to direct this movie.

2: Guillermo del Toro. When I heard Guillermo might have been attached to the movie as the director, I was really looking forward to the movie. It's such a shame he rejected to do Hellboy 2 (Which was a decent movie nonetheless) Brilliant director, Pan's Labyrinth and Hellboy were really good fantasy movies. I had no doubt he would do fine with a Sci-Fi setting as well, alas we will never find out.

3:  Roland Emmerich. This guy's movies always heavily depend on A LOT of CGI (Computer-Generated-Images) and that's exactly what a Halo movie would need. I'll take Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow and the upcomming 2012 as an example. Halo would need to be big-budget and would need a lot of cgi. This guy could get that job done.

    Re: What if...

Hellboy II was a Guillermo Del Toro film, his name is credited to it, and his "fashion" was all over the elves. It was a good movie, but I thought I'd just clarify that for you.

Something else I've wondered is why doesn't the Halo movie be made full CGI? THe crew that did the Halo Wars cutscenes could do them, and the voice actors for the game could add the full effect of the characters.

Misperception: 'Rejected (Halo) to do Hellboy II'

And why they don't do a Halo CGI movie? Full CGI movies are still in the childhood stage. The only -succesful- CGI movies are children oriented and are not trying to create photo-realistic graphics. Earlier attempts to do full CGI movies have flopped, it takes a huge budget and they usually end up as box-office bombs.

    Re: What if...

    Ah, gotcha.

As for the second point, I would have to disagree. Final Fantasy: Advent Children was an amazing movie; I think they did really well on it. The same goes for Beowulf. While the storyline may have contradicted the epic poem in areas, I thought it was still an amazing visual display. However I see what you meant, and it would be a delecate project.

I still hold to it that Marvel Studios should take on the Halo movie. Two comics out, so their familliar with the storyline at least; they could do it.

Actually, you don't disagree with me at all! I really loved those movies, and I think CGI movies are the future. I think even now CGI movies could replace certain live-action movies. That's just not the problem I was talking about, the problem is that the production costs of those movies are really high and the ammount of people that actually go and watch 'photo-realistic CGI movies' in a lack of a better term are just to few to way up to those costs. Only Beowulf of those two movies made profit (barely because of the well-known cast Hopkins, Jolie etc etc), and that wasn't even a 'true' CGI movie in the sense of FF, just simply motion capture with the actors faces remoddeled.

    Re: What if...

I was always under the impression it was entirely CGI- but meh, you learn something new every day I guess.

As for the production costs, I agree- it would be pricey. But imagine the outcome if you got to see Johnson play Sgt. Johnson, rather than morgan Freeman dressed up in BDU's with a cigar. It would be- I imagine- phenomonal!

Yeah, because a movie from the view of the captain of a starship is really original and technologically challenging with modern day technology. Really, that is just too 80's Star Trek.
