There have been and will be better RTS Games. This one isn't great, but it is so far the only official Halo RTS.

The gameplay fragments were more impressive for Halogen, some of the custom units weren't very original imo though.
All in all: Halogen > Halo Wars.

I never played it but from the screens and vids ive seen of it, it looked pretty weak with barely hope for a campaign.

It wouldve been simply MP, and the space battle i saw that was going to be in it i guess looked like crap..

If people say this they obviously don't know that Bungie actually wanted to design halo to be an RTS. However, it was worked down to a FPS( I can't remember how ).

Halo wars is VERY over simplified and the unit system is very strange and I personally don't think they have enough specialized units, here is the list of units that I think should be created

Marine gunner support

Grunt Gunner Support

Elite Squads

Spec Op Elite Squads

Counselor and two honor guard squad

ODST squad

Pelicans

Phantoms

Spirits

Guass warthog seperate not an upgrade of the warthog

Long sword bombers

Mongooses

Jackal sniper

marine sniper

Grunt anti vehicle squad

Marine anit vehicle squad

Gunships (the water kind)

Units I think should have been left out

The kind of spartan they are putting in (the animations are terrible)

The vampire

The cyclops

 

But what ever because

Its basically Halo Wars for the PC, and it had a truck load of units for either side, If I can remember right I think you could play as Covenant too, it was shut down by MicroWh0re because it was for free, so basically HaloGen is the Daddy to Halo Wars, and proof that Microsoft is a money hungry Wh0re... 

and for those that say it sucked, need I remind you that atleast HaloGen did not have all the resources Halo Wars could've had.

and yes it was, but it was so good for a Mod you cold say it was way better, heck even when bungie originally made the platform for Halo which was a RTS, HaloGen still looked a lot better.
