    Re: In Canon or not...

What's the problem with the backflip?

Have none of you heard of swashbuckling?  A flashy fighting style, full of showing off and exagerated motions, very intimidating.  Intimidation can be very effective.

Plus their physically capable of it.

Plus, Sp'lasers may have been prototype weapons available for Spartans since soon after first contact with the Covenant.  Granted they wouldn't have been available at Cole's liberation of Harvest but I have no idea how long the campaign takes in the Halo timeline.  So there's not really a problem with them being there.

EDIT: Halo has always sacrificed realism for fun and balance, the specs of various units, weapons, and people are different in-game and in-canon.

And Bungie would never endorse a Halo story that wasn't true to canon.

You guys don't get it, a Spartan wouldn't be able to do a triple backflip onto the tank when a ton of metal scrap is strapped to your body.

And then there is the 600 ton MAC slug being fired at 30,000 kilometers per second at a wraith, and it only takes down half its health points.

    Major flaws in the game.

you did not just call the MJOLNIR armor scrap! that armor is the coolest armor in any Sci Fi game ever made.

and it especially beats the armor from the newest Sci Fi games......Im talking about Gears of War

    Re: In Canon or not...

I think the only thing that really has killed me so far as being true to the halo series is that the Covenant ships i've seen in this recent trailer look NOTHING like the other covenant ships.

The whole "X" shaped rear section is just not covenant, at all.  They have that smooth, whale/waterdrop streamlined shape.  they don't have big rectangular sections.

There are a few other small details, but i find them acceptable.   Personally, i don't take these trailers so seriously though. I mean, they totally lack grunts and the other species, only showing elites, which makes no sense to me.

THey are just trying to look cool.  Hopefully, when Halo Wars ships, we won't have to many things that don't fit Halo's styling.

I hear people saying all the time that this game does not fit in Halo canon.  Meh, I really dont care, even though it does disgrace the name halo.  However, it is still human vs. covenant, and it is still an RTS.  There are alot of cool features that I like in an RTS game that is in Halo Wars.  The fact that there could be a maximum of 6 players online blows me away, that sounds real exciting.  The fact that the might make a map editor sounds pretty awesome.  There alot of things that are cool in an RTS, halo or not its still a great RTS game.  Heck, I think Lord of the Rings is totally geektopia (like for those D&D geeks) but I still like LOTRBFME because of the cool RTS elements in the game.  Give me your thoughts on these ideas, thanks.

well thats great... but some of us really really like the halo canon.... thats just how it is... i dont see what the point of this topic is.. are you trying to convience people to not care about the canon or do you just wanna let everybody know that you dont care about it?... im not trying to be rude but i just really dont see the point of the thread..

Spartans are not trained in "swashbuckling"

the Splazer was a Prototype weapon in Halo3, you trying to tell me they have been making "prototypes" and builds of this weapon for 25 years? Things don't become prototypes for that long, they become DONE

And bungie obviously would allow cannon break in a game if they are letting this happen, and Microsoft holds the rights to the game not bungie. So ES could add a talking hermit crab sidekick if they wanted, bungie couldn't do anything

No, it doesn't fit canon, but it's so easy to make it fit.  Yet, ES gives little reguard to canon.  This is why I'm mad.  If part a story doesn't fit canon, then it's no longer a story.  Honestly, the game looks fun to me and I will surely buy it, but they need to fix the canon so that it runs with the rest of the haloverse.

Pheonix, ES and Bungie do have liasons so they can talk about what and what is not cool to be put in the game.

Although, for all we know, he's tied up in the closet.

Not only the Cannon annoys me. The game won't come to PC.

Disregard for canon annoys me. But not the PC part.

Halo Wars may work just fine for Console, but it's been dumbed down so much, it's almost at the level that RTSs were at ten years ago. Against current RTSs, like StarCraft II and DoW II, it's a disgrace.

Then you should be pretty happy with the game; it's a lot of fun.

there is light at the end of this dark tunnel...fear not...

That's the problem, the mods are locking all the threads that complain and banning users that complain.

I'll buy it.  And I'll play the snot out of it for the next 2-3 years.  Canon isnt an issue with me, if something makes the game fun then add it by all means.

Thanks Ryzza & Mr. Bacon for teaching me how to make these

Yo don't be trashing LOTR. I kill you. LOTR was around before the term nerd was invented, and its better writing then any Wow, D&D, Sword and Sorcery BS.

In all honesty, what objections I have to Halo Wars are based on the Gameplay, but even with all my objections togethor, it wont change my decision to buy the game, and I cant say rather it will be Awesome or not. I have problems with it, but I dont know how it will work out in the end
