Personaly I've never done it, I have the paticene to order it on the internet (mainly play.com) and wait for it to arrive, which is usually a few days later.

IMHO it really has nothing to do with patience. Its just fun hanging out with friends and strangers talking about something you all have in common.

If my local shop has a midnight party, I'll be there. The chance is slim though.

I remember my first midnight release it was Halo 3. my local gamestop had a Massive and i mean massive Halo 2 tournament, there were at least a hundred of us there. We even had some people from radio stations tv stations and even some people who made MJOLNIR costumes(good ones not bad ones) show up. We all just hung out the whole night even after it was released me and a few others stayed there and beat the game on legendary. the first night(one of the best nights of my life)
