Maybe they mean the same idea for a character, not specifically the same character exactly?

Just throwing this out there for those of you that want that connection to Halo. If Master Chief could find a way to meld Cortana's mind into his, that would explain the AI part a bit. He does have a neural lace.

I never played marathon, but I remember searching for stuff about the halo marathon link on google. On one of the forums I read that bungie said that the halo and marathon universe do NOT intertwine. Though I also read that some ex bungie guy said they were the same incarnation and yada yada yada.

I'd believe bungie over an ex bungie guy. So I'm guessing they are not related.
I personally think that that planet thing is in fact Onyx, remember that there are a lot of unanswered questions that pertain to Onyx...

The planet style resembles that of halo anyways, so it is possible on a graphical note. That blue shine that comes over the planet could be one of those huge combines sentinal constructs...think about it.

have you even played through on legendary yet and seen the end video? thats a clearly populated planet.... the inner s[here of those sentinals is red.... so it wouldn't be a blue shine from them...

 ive heard more yea's from bungie saying a connected storyline then ney's ....  bungie also isn't the best source for information... as they promiced that their secret project was not halo 3.... they promiced all questions would be answered.... yadda yadda

Heres a tidbit of info thatll keep you guys talking... Bungie DID in fact say that the Marathon Cyborg and the Master Chief are two incarnations of the same character.

 

i keep telling people that... they keep ignoring it.... who knows... 

incarnation of the same character doess not mean the same character.......at all........

Good point indeed, but maybe the ship moved from the inhabited planet or something. I think it will be linked as the same story, even if there isn't a remake (which I think there will be). Regards to Cortana's death- MC says, 'wake me if you need me.' or something, which suggests that she'll be around for a loooooong time, though I have little evidence other than that. I think it stands for itself.

yeah has anyone else noticed that some of the monsters in marathon look alot like a hunter...or an elite, just not as well defined? it was awhile ago...also on the offical bungie site alot of the marathon information and such is gone... i used to look at it but now i cant find anything but screen shot. Coincidence?

incarnation of the game simply means they take principles and ideas from the game and incorporate them into the next game.

for example i think  halo and marathon are kind of spiritual sequels, similar to bioshock and system shock.

halo wiki states that bungie says that halo and marathon take place in diferent galaxies, i cant find a quote yet, but this is up everywhere
