hotchixdeficatn:i agree it gets annoying how some units will NEVER hit the arbiter as long as he jumps around... at least on the Covenant side that is. tanks counter arby pretty good cuz their special like auto hits him mostly.. but for covy, wraiths miss, jackals miss bout 25% of time, hunters and locusts... haha forget bout it. i alwaysss lose to arby when i play, and i play brute chieftain. jus cant seem to counter him well enough
I play as Brute Chieftain as well.  The Arbiter has a huge advantage over the other two Covenant leaders.  Lacking a Disruption Bomb sucks.

Arbiter can't rush like BC can, and the Regretful Pedo is the king of harassment (ha ha ha).

Re: The Covenant is OP thread

the covenant disurves a disruption bomb cause the UNSC uses its leader power then disrupts throwing the covenant leader into a complete death twirl it is only fair the covenant has a d-bomb too. Just for defence it cant really help the leader but its units who will be cryoed carpeted and maced.

Re: The Covenant is OP thread

I agree it deserves one, but only if their leader powers must recharge.  Right now, the disruption bomb takes about 3 or 4 minutes to recharge.  The Cov leader can use the leader power over and over again as long as they have a few hundred in the bank.  Not to mention the disruption bomb is effective maybe 40% of the time.... all the leader has to do is run to the other side of the base and start going again.  When it is a rushing situation that does you no good.  All they have to do is run off screen, wait 1 minute, and come back... they know the disruption bomb is used and cant be used again for 3 or 4 minutes.

Also, I am EXTREMELY TICKED OFF!!  They just passed an update out taking away UNSC advantages early on.  I just played someone who was the arbitor and I was anders.  He had the arbitor roaming the map... complete control.  Took over the 2 reactors on the map (Perth Outskirts)... there was nothing I could do to stop him.  He came over 3-4 minutes into the game... I had 4 WH and 5 flame throwers... along with all 4 turrets up.   He destroyed all my troops before I had enough for a disruption bomb.  He just ran off screen and I was left with noting.  I knew I was trapped... i could not expand because I could not defend base 1, let alone base #2.  Further he was building air... so flamethrowers are worthless.  I just teched up my turrets and cryo bomb and built as many warthogs as I could.  He came over cloaked, started tearing up all 15 WH's, I froze him (DB was still like 1/4 of the way away from recharge), and the turrest still could not take him out.  He then swoops in with a full blown banche armada!  WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU SUPPOSE TO DO?

Okay, I am nearly done with this game and playing it online.  I am pretty much your average joe player.  I am not exceedingly pro, but I have beat plenty 3 star players.  All of a sudden everyone this weekend was playing as Cov... and not just 1v1... my friend and I had 3 games in a row... where we were both UNCS (Forge and Anders) and everyone was playing double covenant.  HOw is it this thread has double or tripple the pages with people complaining than the UNSC OP thread, but yet the UNSC is the one that gets knocked out.

I challenge those who really think the Cov are underpowered to power a thread and give strategies to BEAT the Cov rush repeatedly.  Because right now... it is 1) nearly impossible early in the game, and 2) unless you have a disruption bomb or a 2 v 1 situation with your armies... you just cant do it.

Another example... my buddy and I had both fully upgraded armies and went head to head with double dov.  He had Grizzlies and I had Hawks.  Thay built 4 Scarabs, fully upgraded their leaders, and then had engineers following them around to keep them from dieing.  THeir leader alone was able to take out our armies... neither of us had a disruption bomb, and our leader abilities didnt finish off the job ... we lost everything... by the time they got to our base... their engineers had healder the leaders and a good chunk of their scarabs.

I SERIOUSLY CHALLENGE ENSEMBLE!  LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS!  If you really see this is all even... then start a thread with helpful hints as to how to overcome the Cov.  I have the strategy guide(s) and all they say is use the DB.  Well, the DB is crap!  You need to get ahead of this before the game just becomes Cov vs Cov and people just loose interest!

This is simply not acceptable game play!

Re: The Covenant is OP thread

    • Why did you only have 5 flamethrowers? You need more.
    • You could take some flamethrowers and attack the hooks.
    • You shouldn't use the disruption bomb defensively.
    • Build Wolverines. Automatic win vs. banshees, and just wait until the Arbiter rages and surround him, then drop a d-bomb.
    • Why did you let them get four scarabs and upgraded leaders?
    • And why are all my points preceded by bullets? Why can't I turn this off!?

        Bullets are good for organization!

Keep them on! Continue using them!  Highly organized. Easily read. It's a good thing.

CD on leader powers? What if I mistakenly use it? What's to differenciate me using it for 2 seconds and me using it for 5 minutes? Terrible bloody idea.  If you want a CD for leader powers, how about the CD is as long as you used the leader power for.

Re: The Covenant is OP thread

That was close... I almost asked what CD meant. A cooldown on leader powers would be terrible. Since they eat up resources, we can't keep them on forever (with the exception of the Arbiter). All a UNSC player would have to do is attack, make the leader use a power, and run away. Then the CD starts, and they can attack safely because our most important unit has just become worthless.

i think the arbiter is a lot over powered he can kill an army all by himself and if you get to kill him i will be only to se an army of covenants units behind him, and the "hero teleportation" is overpowered too. im not saying that it shouldnt be there, but i dont think is fair the fact that the hero can go away being under heavy fire, it should work only when nobody is shooting at him. i think a hero like the chieftain is ok

I only had 5 flame throwers because he came to my base that early.  I build 2 pads, barracks, pad, ractor... i crank out as many flame throwers I can while I am upgrading the pads and putting up turrets.  Only so much you can afford with in the first 3 minutes.

It takes more tech to build wolverines vs banchees.  Again... time limit here is 3 or 4 minutes to fight off the rush.  The best I coudl have is infantry, scorp tank, or hogs.

keep in mind there were two scenarios here... the arbitor rush and the dbl covenant situation.  The 4 scarab situation we had been fighting off the leaders and were trying to epand (it was the map where you have the 4 bases in the middle and 1 free base in back) before they did.  Anything we did the leader could tear down on its own, and therefore the scarabs just popped out as they did nothing but supplies + upgrades.  Meanwhile we were building tanks, hogs, you name it... anything to keep them off our bases.

I like the bullets.  :)  I think you hit a key combo somehow.

Also, I have been stating in other threads I think the map has alot to do with the match.  There are some maps that allow the cov to upgrade faster because there are structures available they can control... and the UNSC does not really have the means to remove them before the damage is done (ie they get their upgrades researched... so they dont need to hold the structure to build the upgraded unit(s)... especially if they are already in queue... like a scarab.  :)

          • I'm going to try using these again... I didn't get flamed for saying stuff that time!
          • I don't play as the UNSC too much, but would SP Barracks SP SP Reactor work? Maybe more SP before the reactor?
          • Lock down your base at the start, it keeps the # of units a secret and it keeps them from being hit early.
          • I'm trying to not make this sound like I'm lecturing a new player, but it is coming out that way, sorry.
          • Good point. Your best early defense vs. a banshee rush would be two back (always build back first) turrets, one upgraded to missle if you can afford it. Spartans help too (if you can afford them).
          • Actually, when playing against Covie players it's always a good idea to build two back turrets; back can shoot to the front, but not the other way around.
          • About the double leader rush... I don't play 2v2 and 3v3 much. Your best hope is to have an Arbiter on your team.
          • On that note, a great 3v3 team to have is an Arbiter-Arbiter-Forge team. You're immune to rushes, and you get grizzlies!
