    Anyone get the Halo Encyclopedia?

Apparently my Barnes and Noble already had copies of the book (which is odd; don't they release October 19?), to which I really wanted to get, but unfortunately the price tag was hefty (€26, which accounts to about $40.00), which in turned forced my uncle to get the book we were really intending to get for me due to good grades: the Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks.

I'm setting out to get enough money for it though eventually. Maybe a job or whatnot. When I skimmed through the book though, I can safely say that parts of it tells you things you might already know...and other parts that either tie up loose ends or are things you never knew about.

So the title says everything: has anyone managed to get the Encyclopedia? If not, do you plan on getting it?

    Halopedia is better, trust me.

And you know this because you've read the Encyclopedia?

Re: Anyone get the Halo Encyclopedia?

The Halo Encyclopedia is a better source of canon than Halopedia. Halopedia is a good reference site but not a source of canon due to its vast assumptions and exaggerations.

I've quickly read through the Halo Encyclopedia, it holds a lot of known things and maybe some unknown things to others. I'd say if you got all of the books like most Halo fans then pick it up it might help you tie things together quite nicely.

This thread, whilst of Bungie.net, is pretty good.

You just like it because it confirms your theory.

Like what? The Halo Encyclopedia? Sure I do, it confirms my theory. And also tells us other stuff too, which will be helpful when writing fan fiction. It's not released here 'til mid November, so the best I can do is read what people post in that thread.

I believe we knew that about the Mantle, and the Maginot Sphere.

But Bungie.net has some interesting theories. However the creators of such theories seem to keep to themselves making Bungie.net a "closed" community, not really welcoming of newer members.

I've been a member there for less than a year, and yet I'm already in the 'inner circle' of Bungie.net politics, per se, with Mythic members on my friends list, moderators who know me, and recognised in the community, especially as a fan fic writer and theorist. The best way to get welcomed is to join private groups, make a good friend who is already tight knit into the community, and work your way up from there.

And you should trawl through that thread to find things out, Opog only put a few facts in the OP.

Did anyone read the Halo encyclopedia and learn something new?

Re: Anyone get the Halo Encyclopedia?

Sweet! Confirmation on the 800 Colonies.

210 Inner Colonies, but only 17 are colonized, ummm care to explain?

    EDIT: Huge data revealed.

Forerunners activated Halo Array, reseeded life from samples kept in shield worlds/Ark, then they "leave the Orion Arm of the Milky Way Galaxy"

I knew they were still around.

I thought the 800 Colonies was retconned.

Oh well, I'll get the Encyclopedia when it is available in Libraries.

Re: Anyone get the Halo Encyclopedia?

    Greatest quote ever.

LAWL. There's a picture of an Assault Carrier(so big it's spread over two pages) and it's marked "Truth and Reconciliation"(TWICE!) and the text goes on to say it a CCS class Battlecruiser. Did anyone read this before it went out?

I suppose if Nylund had been editing it would have been a picture of a Longsword marked "Pelican"

MACs and SMACs now fire at .4c and .5c. So we have Covenant warships that can withstand Teraton level MACs but fall to megaton level nukes.

Covenant now use Antimatter rather than fusion as there main power source. This contradicts all the novels, which claim they use fusion. Wasn't there a SIII attack on a tritium refinery?

EDIT: LOL Halo kills you with music. Technically certain frequencies that target cells in the nervous system.

It overloads ya brain with sound.

Re: Anyone get the Halo Encyclopedia?

Not something I really care to get. For the most part all the issues each game has presented killed what was left of my drive to understand what went on in the Haloverse. Halo Wars was the final nail in that reguard. I tried to keep going but honestly it doesnt hold much intrest for me anylonger.
